Honoring the Life of Barbara

Barbara Ann Elliott Yeager, 89, of Campton. Kentucky died on November 27, 2025.

She was born on January 14, 1936, in Harlan County Kentucky, to the late Colston and Bonnie Elliott.

After graduating from Knox County High School, she married the late James E. Yeager Sr. in 1953. They had three sons: the late James E. Yeager Jr., Daniel P. Yeager (Jane) Lexington, Thomas Scott David Yeager, Campton.

While living in Campton, Kentucky, Barbara owned and operated her own flower shop, Campton Florist, and despite working long hours she enjoyed using her creativity.

After raising their three boys, Barbara decided to pursue a new career, and at the age of 48 enrolled as a Freshman at Union College in Barbourville, Kentucky. She excelled in the subjects of History and English and graduated in May 1988 with many scholastic awards, including Summa Cum Laude.

After graduating from Union College, Barbara was accepted to the Salmon P Chase School of Law at Northern Kentucky University and graduated with a Juris Doctor in 1991.

Following her graduation, Barbara passed the bar and served her beloved community of Knox County for almost 20 years. She loved the practice of law and dutifully represented her clients. She often took on cases pro bono, with a passion for helping families and children. Throughout her life, Barbara was active in her communities of Wolfe and Knox County, serving on various boards and committees.

Additionally, Barbara is survived by her grandchildren, Daniel Scott Yeager, Nicholasville, Kentucky, Rachel Yeager Davies (Matthew) Mason, Ohio, Elizabeth P. Yeager, Washington D.C., Jade Yeager, Stanton, Kentucky, and one great grandson Jacolby Scott Jones of Bowen, Kentucky.

Barbara was preceded in death by one son, James E. Yeager Jr, and a granddaughter, Shannel Raye Gabbard Yeager. She was also preceded in death by five brothers, Tom Elliott, Warren Elliott, Jack Elliott, Max Elliott and Bill Elliott and two sisters, Lorene Hughes and Darlene Baker.

The Yeager family would like to extend their gratitude toward the staff at the Wolfe County Health and Rehabilitation Center for their loving, dedicated support and care for Barbara.

Services will be conducted Thursday December 4th, 2025 at Porter and Son Funeral Home in Campton, Kentucky. Visitation will be held between 11:00am and 12:00pm prior to the funeral at 12:00pm. The burial will be in Yeager-Powell cemetery in Bimble Kentucky.
