Bibles and the fight against drug use were top of discussion at the May Knox County UNITE meeting.
At the UNITE monthly luncheon, opening speaker Lisa George discussed the immense number of Bibles that The Gideons International group had distributed last year: an astonishing 68 million. An equally impressive number followed; they raised about four million dollars last year as well.
Expanding on those details, George shared that the BIbles reached 200 countries and territories with roughly 108 different languages. Over 600 Bibles were given out to Knox County elementary schools, as well as hospitals.
Also speaking was Reverend Leonard Lester, who took the floor to speak on issues of faith and the ongoing fight against drug misuse.
