Obituary - Daisy Smallwood

Mrs. Daisy Smallwood, 86, of Girdler, the widow of Arlie Smallwood, passed away Saturday morning, May 10, 2025 at the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard.  She was born February 21, 1939 in Knox County, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Georgia Wagers Stewart.

Daisy was a homemaker and a believer of the Baptist faith.  She enjoyed sewing.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by children, Brenda France, Billy Ray Smallwood and Douglas Wayne Smallwood and her siblings, Johnny Stewart, Hannah France, Beatrice Jones and Bessie Deaton.

Survivors include her daughter, Christine Messer and husband, Jim, of Girdler; a brother, Beve Stewart and wife, Sandy, of Tennessee; grandchildren, Bonnie France Meeks and Tina France Gray and husband, Lewis; great grandchildren, Austin France and wife, Emma, Little Ronnie Meeks and Harley Meeks; great-great grandson, Bennett France; among other loved ones and dear friends.

Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Thursday, May 15 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Vernon Morris and Rev. Tommy Frazier officiating.  She will be laid to rest in the Hampton Cemetery at Girdler.

Casket bearers will be family and friends.

Friends may visit at the funeral home Wednesday between 6 and 8 P.M. and Thursday prior to the funeral hour.
