Monthly ‘Prayer on the Square’ moved to noon, May 2 to join National Day of Prayer

by Rev. Leonard Lester, Barbourville

This month’s (May 1st) PRAYER ON THE SQUARE is BEING MOVED to MAY 2ND AT NOON to combine with the NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER!!! These two events coming so close together afford us the opportunity to join them in one special event. Please help us promote and clarify this change and use this focus to encourage many praying warriors to assemble on the Court Square to do business with God.

The National Day of Prayer is an annual day of observance designated by the United States Congress and held on the first Thursday of May, when people are asked “to turn to God in prayer and meditation”. Wikipedia

The 2024 Theme is LIFT UP THE WORD - LIGHT UP THE WORLD “For you are my lamp, O Lord, and my God lightens my darkness. For by You I can run against a troop, and by my God I can leap over a wall. This God—his way is perfect; the word of the Lord proves true; He is a shield for all those who take refuge in Him.” 2 Samuel 22:29-31

This is a time of great moral, economic, military, and psychological storm. Spiritually this is a dark and confusing time. Only our great God can get us through this, and we need to stand still before Him and hear His instructions to us. One of my favorite passages is Ps. 91:14-16 “Because he holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him; I will protect him, because he knows my name. 15When he calls to me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him. 16With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.”

Our hearts desire is to humble ourselves and seek Him with our whole heart for salvation in all things, for ourselves and our families and each other. Join us for a public display before our Lord and as an encouragement for each other next Thursday, May 2, at NOON at the Courthouse. Tell others however you can. Looking forward to praying with you there.
