Upcoming 28th Golden Family Reunion, April 26-28, 2024

by Submitted

Our earliest known ancestor, Richard Golden, born 1740-1746 and wife Mary Frances “Frankie” Lowe, had seven known children. Five of the seven children’s descendants attended the reunion. Those represented were their sons Stephen and Thomas Lowe Golden plus, daughters Nancy Golden McFarland, Sally Golden Mackey and Winnie Golden Messer.

Those attending last year’s 27th reunion traveled in from IN, TN, KY, TX, OK, MI and still more plan to arrive at our 28th Golden Family Reunion.

LOCALS, Please Come out and meet your GREAT BIG FAMILY.

This Big family is scattered all over the world. With Y-DNA testing we have traveled all the way back in time to areas around the Mediterranean Sea with DNA matches. Our world got so much larger with DNA testing. A cousin from South Russia, Anzor Hashezh, did a column in our 2024 newsletter to share with everyone how our connections all came from one man. Amazing finding!

On Friday, April 26, 2024, at 10 AM we need help in putting up a tent and setting up our stage for our pickers and singers. Volunteers, please show up at the Old Golden Cemetery. It is located at Golden Creek. Then from 2-4 PM the Whitley County Historical & Genealogy Society & Museum agreed to open their doors for our reunion attendees. And then beginning at 5 until 9:30 PM we will all meet at the Williamsburg Tourism & Convention Center in Williamsburg, KY

On Saturday, April 27 beginning at 8:30 AM until the last person leaves, we will be at the first location and resting place of our first Golden settlers in KY on Golden Creek. There will be a potluck meal at noon, all day socializing, an auction and music, plus for both events lots of family stories and information about the Golden Family History. Bring a lawn chair, food to share and an auction item to help support our event.
