Union Commonwealth University announces weather cancellations

Posted

University leadership reconvened this evening to review updated weather information and ongoing conditions related to the winter storm impacting our region. Based on continued concerns regarding road conditions, ice accumulation, power outages, and overall safety, the University has made the following operational decisions for the week ahead.

Monday, January 26 (as previously announced below)

  • The University will be closed
  • No classes for faculty and students
  • Administrative closing for staff

Tuesday, January 27

  • The University will remain closed
  • No classes for faculty and students
  • Administrative closing for staff

Wednesday–Friday, January 28–30

  • Virtual learning for all classes
  • Remote work for staff

These decisions were made to provide our campus community with a clear and consistent plan for the remainder of the week, reduce the need for travel during hazardous conditions, and allow students to return to campus safely over the coming weekend once weather and road conditions improve.

Students who are not currently on campus should not attempt to return until it is safe to do so, and should plan travel based on future University guidance and local conditions.

The University remains grateful to our Facilities and essential personnel who continue working through this weather event to support campus operations.

We will continue to monitor conditions closely and will communicate any additional updates as needed through official University channels.
