James “Jim” Messer Jr., age 85 of Arjay, Kentucky departed this life on Friday, March 27, 2026, at his home.
Jim was born on July 10, 1940, in Pineville, Kentucky to the late Jim and Fannie Mae Asher Messer. He was of the Baptist faith.
Jim enjoyed visiting stores, sitting around drinking coffee and talking to his host of friends.
Along with his parents Jim and Fannie, Jim was also preceded in death by four brothers, Virgil, Earl, Lewis Daniel and Ray, two sisters, Marie and Betty Jean and an aunt Malvie Asher.
Jim leaves behind two children, Karen Brock and Gloria Miller, two grandchildren, Kayla Brock and fiancé Jeremy, and Brandon Jacobs, two great grandchildren, Brantley Hoskins and Hunter Hoskins, favorite cousins Paul Caleb and wife Janice, other family and friends to miss him and mourn his passing.
Funeral services for James “Jim” Messer Jr. will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at 2:00 P.M in the chapel of The Barbourville Funeral Home. Brother Carl Jones will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 P.M until the time of service at 2:00 P.M, the family has chosen cremation after the service.
