James Boggs, 89, of Corbin, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2026.
James served eight years in the United States Navy before beginning a career that would take him through a variety of jobs and ultimately to CSX Transportation, where he worked for 24 years until his retirement.
James loved the outdoors. He loved to hunt and spent much of his free time fishing on the lakes of Kentucky and Tennessee. He was also a skilled woodworker, and the pieces he built by hand will remain in the homes of his family and friends for years to come.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mae Boggs, of Corbin.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Linda Boggs, of Corbin; his sons, David Boggs of Corbin and Daniel Boggs and his wife Lizzy of Asheville, North Carolina; his granddaughter, Dolly Boggs; his brothers: John Boggs of Louisville, Robert Boggs and his wife Debbie of Corbin, Ernie Boggs and his wife Roberta of Mt. Vernon, and Larry Michael Boggs of Corbin; and his sister, Shirley Boggs and her husband Roger of Corbin.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 29, 2026, in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Bobby Joe Eaton officiating. The D.A.V. Chapter 158 will provide military honors.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. – 2:00 P.M. at Hart Funeral Home, located at 1011 Master Street in Corbin.
