On behalf of the Barbourville Police Department, Chief Adam Townsley reports that on June 18th, 2026, The Barbourville Police Department and Knox County Sheriff’s Office conducted a joint operation to arrest Joshua Wakins on a complaint warrant from Bell County District Court alleging that Mr. Wakins had inappropriate conversations with what he knew to be an underage female in an undercover investigation where sexually explicit images were sent. Chief Townsley states, we encourage parents and guardians to remain involved in their children’s online activities and to report any suspicious behavior to law enforcement. The safety of our community’s children remains one of our highest priorities.
Wakins was arrested and lodged in the Knox County Detention Center where he is being held on a $250,000 Cash Bond.
Wakins has been charged with Procuring or Promoting use of Minor by Electronic Means.
