Knox Central boys basketball coach Mitchell Madden has stepped down after two seasons leading the Panthers, the school announced Tuesday.
Madden compiled a 43-18 record, won a 51st District championship and made two appearances in the 13th Region Tournament during his tenure.
Madden is stepping away from coaching to focus on his health following a recent cancer diagnosis.
“Thank you to Coach Madden for all of the hard work and dedication to Panther Nation and our athletics! Once a Panther, always a Panther!,” read a statement from the school’s Facebook page.
