LARPers descend on Dr. Thomas Walker State Historic Site for a day of epic battle and camaraderie

Posted

Dr. Thomas Walker State Historic Site played host to Dawn Lands LARP (live-action role playing) players on Saturday, August 23. The event featured a fun day of armored combat, children’s activities, games, tournaments, demonstrations, costumes and more for participants. Some attendees camped Friday and Saturday nights at the park.

The website for Dawn Lands LARP describes the group as “…dedicated to fostering a community where individuals can forge lasting friendships, experience exhilarating fun, and engage in outdoor physical activity. Our group welcomes heroes of all ages to embark on epic quests.  All fantasy characters are welcome to join our adventures.

“We started from a group of friends enjoying historical reenactment, martial arts, cosplay, and role playing.  We started putting our rules together as early as 2013, but moved into research realm around 2017.  We started our official play testing in 2021 and then held our first event.  Our goal is to make something where everyone can have fun and take part.”
