Knox County Powers Past Harlan In 12U Softball Tournament

BARBOURVILLE — Knox County stayed alive in the 12U Softball All-Star Tournament Sunday, rolling past Harlan 15-0 in three innings during loser’s bracket action at Knox County Little League.

Knox County scored six runs in the first inning, added five more in the second inning and closed the game with four runs in the third inning while limiting Harlan to four hits.
Croley Cain led the way both in the pitcher’s circle and at the plate. She tossed a three-hit shutout, striking out six and walking three over three innings. Offensively, Cain scored three times, collected two hits and drove in a run while swiping three bases.

Campbell Cain finished 2-for-2 with three RBIs and two runs scored while Killion Hill also went 2-for-2 with two RBI and two runs. Hill doubled twice and stole a base.
Maci Alsip added a hit and drove in three runs, Isabella Abner collected two hits and two RBI, and Baylee Jones tripled, drove in a run and scored once.

Jesslyn Messer contributed a hit and an RBI while Tanaya Hughes and Maggie Collett each added hits. Savannah Scalf drove in two runs and Makenna Messer reached base twice via walks and scored.

Representing Knox County on the 12U All-Star team are Bella Abner, Baylee Jones, Maci Alsip, Makenna Messer, Tanaya Hughes, Jesslyn Messer, Maggie Collett, Killion Hill, Campbell Cain, Croley Cain, Savannah Scalf, Sophia Brown and Ava Lawson.
