The Tri-County Elks Lodge in Corbin proudly presented its prestigious Enrique S. Camarena Award to Everett Johnson, recognizing his outstanding commitment to drug prevention, youth education, and community service. Johnson currently works for the Knox County Sheriff and for a DEA Task Force demonstrating his local and national impact in the fight against drug trafficking and overdose deaths.
The award, named in honor of DEA Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena who gave his life in the fight against drug trafficking, is bestowed annually by Elks lodges across the nation to individuals who exemplify courage, dedication, and leadership in promoting a drug-free lifestyle.
During the ceremony, Lodge officials praised Johnson’s tireless efforts in mentoring young people, supporting local prevention programs, and serving as a role model for responsible citizenship. His work has had a lasting impact on families throughout the Tri-County area, reinforcing the Elks’ mission of service and community betterment.
“Everett Johnson has shown what it means to live with purpose and to give back selflessly,” said Dr. Kathy Blaydes-Walczak, a representative of the Tri-County Elks Lodge. “His leadership and advocacy embody the spirit of Agent Camarena’s legacy, and we are honored to recognize his contributions.”
The event drew community members, Elks Lodge officers, and local leaders, all gathered to celebrate Johnson’s achievements. The presentation underscored the Lodge’s ongoing commitment to supporting initiatives that strengthen families, protect youth, and build safer communities.
