Knox Co. Sheriff’s Report for January 9, 2024

Knox County Sheriff Mike Smith is reporting the following Enforcement Actions:

On December 18, 2023 Knox County Deputies observed a 2004 Ford

Explorer swerving while traveling on US 25E in Gray. After conducting a traffic stop and checking the driver, the deputies located suspected crystal methamphetamine. The meth was separated into 24 clear plastic bundles of equal weight for a total of approximately four (4) ounces.

The driver, Robert Couch age 42 of Barbourville, KY was arrested and charged with Reckless Driving and Trafficking in Controlled Substance-1st Degree/Methamphetamine. Robert Couch was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On December 18, 2023 Knox County Sheriff Mike Smith and Deputies executed a search warrant at the residence of Michael and Crystal Sproles located on KY 1527 in Gray.

Michael Ryan Bowles age 44 of Gray, KY was arrested on a Knox County Arrest Warrant for Trafficking in a Controlled Substance-1st Degree/Methamphetamine. The arrest warrant was the result of an undercover drug investigation conducted by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.

During the search of the residence, suspected methamphetamine and a set of digital scales were located inside. Michael Sproles was then charged with Trafficking in a Controlled Substance-1st Degree/Methamphetamine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Crystal Gail Sproles was also arrested and charged with Trafficking in a Controlled Substance-1st Degree/Methamphetamine. During the arrest a small amount of marijuana was located in her possession. Crystal Sproles was then charged with Possession of Marijuana.

Michael and Crystal Sproles were lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On December 23, 2023 Deputy Jeremiah Williamson was dispatched to a complaint of a vehicle that had ran off the travel portion of KY 3439 in Barbourville. After checking the driver, Deputy Williamson arrested Lonnie R Warren age 71 of Barbourville, KY charging him with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On December 26, 2024 Deputy Dylan Lewis arrested Kenny Wagers age 28 of Flat Lick, KY on a Knox County Bench Warrant for failure to appear on Operating Motor Vehicle Under the Influence/Controlled Substance. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On December 26, 2024 Deputy Dylan Lewis arrested Arthur Meeks age 57 of Barbourville, KY on a Knox County Bench Warrant for failure to appear on Driving on DUI Suspended License, No Registration Plates or Receipt, Disregarding Traffic Control Device and Failure to Wear Seat Belts. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On December 26, 2024 Deputy Jesse Smith arrested Diquan Brunson age 28 of Williamsburg, KY on a Whitley County Bench Warrant for failure to appear on Failure of Owner to Maintain Required Insurance. Operating Motor Vehicle Under the Influence Controlled Substance charges. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On December 27, 2023 Deputy Jeremiah Williamson arrested Tammy Sparks age 44 of Barbourville, KY on a Bell County Bench Warrant for failure to appear on Burglary-1st Degree, Possession of Handgun by Convicted Felon, Possession of Marijuana, Persistent Felony Offender II and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia charges. She was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On December 31, 2023 Deputies observed a vehicle cross the center line on Moore Hill Avenue in Corbin. After conducting a traffic stop, the driver, Larry G Dickerson age 33 of Lily, KY, was arrested and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence. Larry Dickerson was also wanted on a Knox County Bench Warrant for a Violation of a Kentucky EPO/DVO charge and a Whitley County Bench Warrant for failure to pay the fines on Assault-4th Degree and Criminal Abuse-3rd Degree charges. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On December 31, 2023 Deputy Jerimiah Williamson observed a vehicle swerving from side to side on Evergreen Road in Flat Lick. After conducting a traffic stop, the driver, Darrel W Knuckles age 27 of Flat Lick, KY, was arrested and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence, Failure to Register Transfer of Motor Vehicle and Failure to Produce Insurance charges. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On January 2, 2024 Deputy Dylan Lewis arrested Michael Browning age 44 of London, KY on two Knox County Bench Warrants for failure to appear on Operating on Suspended or Revoked Operators License, No Insurance, Failure to Wear Seat Belts, License to be in Possession, No Registration Receipt, No Registration Plates, Failure to or Improper Signal and No Tail Lamps. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On January 4, 2024 LT Sam Mullins arrested Jeffery Hammons age 25 of Flat Lick, KY on a Bell County Bench Warrant for failure to appear on Operating on Suspended or Revoked Operators License, No Insurance, No Registration Plates, Failure to Register Transfer Motor Vehicle and Improper Equipment charges. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On January 4, 2024 Deputy Dylan Lewis arrested Steve W Allen age 30 of Flat Lick, KY on a Knox County Arrest Warrant for Assault-4th Degree. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On January 8, 2024 at approximately 6:20 am Deputy Jesse Smith received a report of a man passed out in a vehicle in the travel portion of Buckeye Branch Road in Flat Lick.. When Deputy Smith arrived, he observed a vehicle setting in the middle of the road with the engine running and the driver slumped over the steering wheel. After finally waking the driver, Deputy Smith arrested Shawn Mills age 46 of Flat Lick, KY charging him with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence and No Insurance. During the arrest, Deputy Smith located a small amount of suspected crystal methamphetamine and a syringe. Shawn Milles was then charged with Possession of Controlled Substance-1st Degree and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
