McDonald named KBC’s ‘Missionary of the Year’
June 17, 2025

Rev. James McDonald, named the Kentucky Baptist Convention’s Missionary of the Year, received further recognition on June 4 as a KBC representative from Louisville visited Barbourville to see his ministry, Bible Release-time Education Association of Kentucky (BREAK), in action.
Rev. McDonald conducted one of his regular classes last Wednesday at Roadside Baptist Church in Barbourville. The session was lively and spirit-filled, with children, teens and adults participating in songs and question-and-answer activities designed to reinforce the lesson and enhance understanding.
It is fair to say that everyone in attendance left with a clearer and quicker ability to recite the Ten Commandments.
The KBC plans to create a poster using photos and excerpts from the event. The poster will be distributed statewide to highlight the mission and importance of the BREAK ministry.
Those interested in speaking with Rev. McDonald or learning more about — or supporting — his ministry can reach him at 606-545-7154.
A healthy Knox County requires great community news.
