Obituary - Curtis Evans

Curtis Evans, 94, of Barbourville passed away August 1, 2024. Curtis was the son of William Frank Evans and Ethel Cheek Evans born to them July 4, 1930, in Chenoea, Bell County, Kentucky.
Curtis will forever be remembered as a kind, hardworking man who loved his family dearly. He was a dedicated member of Warren Baptist Church. Curtis united in marriage to Shirley Centers on October 3, 1952, and to this union three sons, Michael, Tony, and Jerry, were born. Curtis took every opportunity to help others in need. He worked his entire life as an auto mechanic; a trade he enjoyed doing as well as teaching. Curtis will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Curtis is survived by his son Michael Evans (Sharon); sisters Patsy Clark and Dana Sue Kiser; and grandchildren Brian Evans, Kelly Evans, Nicole Schmitz, Scott Evans, and Kayla Evans. Eleven great grandchildren, nephew Terry Evans (Kendra) and a host of other cherished family members and friends also survive Curtis. In addition to his parents, William and Ethel Evans, Curtis was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years Shirley Centers Evans, sons Tony Lee Evans and Jerry Wayne Evans, great granddaughter Heather Lynn Evans, sister Nannie Patterson, and brothers Ray Evans, Hillary Evans, and Wade Evans.
The Evans family will receive friends at Hopper Funeral Home on Sunday August 4, 2024, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and on Monday August 5, 2024, from 11:00 AM until the funeral hour of 1:00 PM. Reverend Jimmy Wayne Miller will officiate, assisted by Steve Evans. Interment will follow the funeral service in the Detherage Cemetery, Trosper, Kentucky. Pallbearers are Brain Evans, Scott Evans, Andy Evans, Steve Evans, Jacob Evans, Jamie Schmitz, and Joey Ball.
The Evans family extends a special thank you to Gloria Wilson, Jimmy Miller, and Judy Lawson for their support, kindness and compassionate care of Curtis.
The Hopper Family, Victoria Hopper and Sally Hopper, and our staff, express sincere condolences to the family and friends of Curtis Evans.
