The 13th Annual "Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs" event wrapped up last Tuesday night. The Knox County UNITE Coalition hosted it at the scenic Brick Yard Ponds at the City Park in Barbourville.

Coalition member Marcia Dixon explained the program, "It is aimed at guiding the young people of Knox County towards healthy and lifelong habits that deter them from getting involved in more risky behaviors, such as drug and alcohol use."

This year, the event attracted dozens of enthusiastic young participants to take part in the catch-and-release fishing competition. Exciting prizes were up for grabs for those who caught the most fish each night, with each successful catch earning the competitor an entry into a series of random drawings, adding an extra level of thrill to the event for the young anglers.
