UPDATE: Shooting victim dies

fatal shootingAccording to Knox County Coroner Mike Blevins the victim of an early morning shooting has died.


At around 5:13 a.m., police and EMS units were dispatched to a residence on Salt Gum Hollow Road at Stinking Creek when a caller reported to Knox dispatchers that a man had been shot multiple times in the chest by two masked assailants.

The assailants fled the scene in a maroon Ford F150 pickup.

The victim was en route to the Knox Hospital by a private owned vehicle when it was intercepted by EMS units.

Blevins said the name and details of the shooting have not yet been released. “They are talking to family members, so it will be a while,” he said.

As of the time of this post no details were available about whether or not the alleged shooters had been apprehended.
