Currently serving as President of the Kentucky State Senate, Stivers was honored for his vision, exemplary level of dedication, leadership and commitment in helping expand opportunities for local young people, including the Boy Scouts. The senator received the award during a dinner in his honor at the London Community Center. Nearly 200 people were in attendance.
Presenting the award to Stivers was Dr. James H. Taylor, president of the University of the Cumberlands, and winner of the award in 2013. .”Senator Stivers works for others” Taylor said, applauding him as a person with the vision to “plant trees whose shade he will never sit under.”
Stivers represents Clay, Knox, Whitley, Lee, Owsley, and Wolfe counties.
