UPDATE, Friday, Oct. 3, 2014: Barbourville Police Detective Steve Owens informed the Mountain Advocate Friday that U.S. Air Force detectives reported Ethan Blevins was safe and in the custody of his mother and step dad in Arizona.

A 17-year-old student at Barbourville High School was reported missing around 5 p.m. Wednesday by his father and grandmother. Ethan Blevins, of Heidrick, was last seen around 8 a.m. Wednesday by family members when they dropped him off at Williams’ Stop N Go in Barbourville. When he did not return home that afternoon, the family discovered he had not been in school that day.

Barbourville Police began an investigation and found that the teen was seen on a surveillance video at the Stop N Go meeting an Hispanic male in his late 20s or early 30s with a ponytail. He was seen entering a white Jeep-type SUV and leaving from the store at just after 8 a.m.
