The Knox County Health Department Board of Directors met on Tuesday night to interview applicants for the position of Director of Public Health for Knox County. The position is set to become vacant on Oct. 31 when current director Susan Liford is scheduled to retire. Board Chairman George Hammons said that they have four individuals scheduled to interview for the position but declined to provide names. Hammons said the board would make a decision in the near future, possibly as early as this evening, on the successful applicant, but the start date would not be until Nov 1. The interviews were held in executive session and were not open to the public. Eight members of the twelve member board were present to conduct the interviews.
