Clay County handed Barbourville a loss on Tuesday night in two sets (25-5 and 25-6). Clay brought in a strong team that overwhelmed a young Barbourville team who is only in their second year of competition under Head Coach Kim Smith. After the game Smith said, “Clay County has a very good team. They start four seniors that have played together since they were in eight grade. We had some bright spots. We worked hard to return their serves and went after the ball. We just ran into a very good team.” Barbourville will be back in action on Sept. 4 when they play host to Harlan.
