Three people were injured when a train collided with a Jeep Cherokee in Knox County Friday.
The driver of the Jeep Cheroke, September Barry, her teenage passenger Summer Barry and a baby, Jaidon Henson, were all hurt when their vehicle went into the path of a train on CSX tracks at a crossing on Bertha Hollow Road. The train was traveling toward Barbourville and consisted of only two engines.
One of the occupants of the vehicle is being airlifted to a regional hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
The train hit the vehicle on the passenger side and pushed it into a ravine.
Officials with the West Knox Volunteer Fire Department are on the scene. The Knox County Sheriff’s Department is investigating.
