Foul weather had plans to disrupt the picnic that signals the start of the Daniel Boone Festival. Fast thinking from the officials combined with generosity from the First Baptist Church of Barbourville averted a potential weather fiasco.
The picnic was scheduled to be held at Thompson Park, but a quick look at weather radar caused the event to be moved from the park to the church gymnasium. The Jr. Woman’s Study Club stepped up in a big way and organized the participants into games, food and general overall fun. Before your very eyes, the mini kings used crafts to create Indian headdresses and unleash a wilderness spirit.
